A note from the Homeie team,
to a place that means a lot to me.
Dear Eternal,
This is a slightly long, slightly personal note. Bear with me.
In November 2024, I was in Toronto and came across a posting for Chief of Staff to Deepinder Goyal. It was everywhere on social media, and the moment I read it, I felt like this was exactly what I wanted to do. So I applied. The first call was with Aashna, and within five minutes we realised we had both grown up in Dubai. Small world, and one of those moments that just makes you smile.
A few rounds later, I was told I'd be speaking with Deepinder. I had genuinely been thinking about that conversation since the day I applied. It took a while to line up. Days turned into weeks. I had almost made peace with it not happening. Then it somehow worked out on the one day I happened to be in Delhi for my December break.
We met on the 25th.
I'll tell you something honestly. I went in thinking I'd be answering questions. I ended up asking most of them. Probably too many. I just kept going. He didn't rush it, didn't cut it short, just answered everything with patience. I walked out of that meeting thinking about those conversations for days.
Soon after, I joined Deepinder and Surobhi to work on LAT Aerospace. I didn't come from an engineering background, and there were definitely moments where I wondered what I was doing there. At some point, Deepi said something very simple that stuck with me: “you figure things out by thinking clearly, not by having done them before. I never had a restaurant before Zomato, and Albi never had a grocery store before Grofers. Just do things.”
The last 16 months changed a lot for me. I became far more comfortable taking decisions without having all the answers. I learned how to operate in messy, uncertain situations and still move things forward. A lot of the confidence I have today comes from that time and from the people I got to work with there.
Homeie came out of that. And when I thought about where to start, this felt obvious.
So this isn't really a “partnership” in the usual sense. It's just us trying to be useful to people here. If we can help a few new joiners avoid the usual mess of finding a place, save them some time, make that first week a bit easier, that's more than enough.
If you ever need anything, I'm around.
